ABCs of Teas
With so many types of teas, where do we begin? We break it down here.
There are three main types of teas: Black teas, Green teas, and Herbal teas.
Black teas are the type most commonly found in tea bags and are relatively high in caffeine. teas are known to have a dark colour when brewed and have a strong, robust flavour. Examples of black tea include Earl Grey, English Breakfast, most Darjeeling teas, and Pu-erh teas.
Green teas are much lighter teas with a milder taste and lower levels of caffeine. Green teas have a light green or even yellow colour with a delicate aroma. While usually its own singular category, green teas include matcha tea.
Finally, Herbal teas aren’t technically even made of tea! Usually made from various plants and herbs, herbal teas offer a wide range of flavours and health benefits. Examples of herbal teas include Peppermint, Chamomile, Yerba Mate, and Ginger.
There are other teas such as Oolong teas, purple teas, and even white teas, but these are either less common or new varietals.
