Our Story
Established in 2024, SA Chai (“SACH”) is a supplier offering a selection of handpicked teas from the subtropical hills of Darjeeling, India - the world’s most renowned region for growing high-quality and specialty teas not found anywhere else. In addition, SACH manages its sales and distribution operations from Kolkata, India; Riyadh, KSA; Dubai, UAE; London, UK; and Atlanta, USA.
We are passionate about tea and regularly promote tea culture, including loose leaf tea, as the hot or cold beverage of choice across generations and geographies. We offer an unwavering commitment to quality and customer satisfaction to go with our range of Darjeeling orthodox teas and northeast Indian CTC teas that cater to any preference.
SA Chai is the brainchild of Adam Omar Shanti and Bunty Agarwal. Graduates of the London Business School, Adam and Bunty have worked together on multiple projects over the last decade in Europe, the Middle East, and in Asia. SA Chai Holdings represents the beginning of their vision to create a tea-based beverages and hospitality services business that is recognized around the world.
Teas to Your Satisfaction
SACH specializes in teas from Darjeeling, a region nestled in the high-altitudes of northeast India. We have spent years cultivating relationships with tea estates, local tea growers, and tea factories in the region. When you buy tea from us, you are buying tea that is sourced directly from local farmers and not from conglomerates and other faceless entities. Our tea leaves are handpicked and carefully processed using techniques developed and perfected in the 19th century.
Our quality assurance team guarantees the quality of our teas to be excellent. We have strict quality control measures that include getting our boots in the local soil to watch everything from cultivation, harvesting, processing, drying, grading, and packaging. Our teas are selected from among the purest grade of processed tea leaves available for individual or bulk packaging by SACH before being shipped to you. This means that we have no bias towards any specific tea estates. Our only concern is finding the best crop every harvest. Our relentless focus on quality and purity is rewarded with your satisfaction in every sip of our teas.
We also have extensive experience in blending unique and limited availability Darjeeling teas to create unique flavour combinations. Continuous innovation with tea flavours and unique tea-related products keeps us ahead of others in the industry.
If you are looking for a way to connect directly with farmers in India, our teas are the best way to do so from the comfort of your own home.
Coming from the financial services sector, Adam and Bunty have spent the last two decades working for enterprises that have delivered intangible services and intellectual property. They decided it was time to switch gears and focus on creating a product that would help them get back in touch with nature and their past.
Adam’s grandfather was a dairy farmer in the United States. As a child, Adam would spend his summers working on his grandfather’s farm, helping to milk the cows and clean the stainless steel milk storage tanks from the inside armed only with a bucket of soapy water and a brush.
Similarly, Bunty’s grandfather owned a tea estate in Darjeeling. Bunty used to help his grandfather by packing processed tea leaves in their shed using a candle to seal plastic bags.
Both of our grandparents were involved directly in farm to table businesses. They knew exactly what they were feeding their families. If you fed the cows with poor quality feed or used pesticides on your tea leaves, you were getting substandard milk and tea leaves.
Adam and Bunty both feel that it’s important to be part of something tangible. Something where we know and can control every step of the process. Too often, the products we use on a daily basis are part of a supply chain in which we have no real visibility. We can’t verify where the products are coming from, what’s in them or how they’re made. With SACH, we have an opportunity to take better care of the supply chain process and really understand every step involved in the making of our teas.
